When content protection has been turned on, and the BlackBerry smartphone is hard reset by removing the battery, after the BlackBerry smartphone restarts, it may display a "java.lang.IllegalStateException" error message.

When a user is experiencing synchronisation issues between their BlackBerry handheld device and the Lotus Notes mail file, it may be a result of a corrupt user state database.
While there are numerous methods by which you can resolve this issue, such as removing entries from the state database, the definitive method to resolve this issue is to re-activate the device for the user.
To do this, follow this process:
As the device is being re-activated for the same email address, old messages will be retained on the handheld device.
The Delete Prior option removes all of the messages on the BlackBerry smartphone prior to and including the date selected.
Email messages are not deleted from the Inbox in your email client when the Delete Prior option is used on the BlackBerry smartphone.
The Problem
A user has reported that they are unable to delete emails from the device anymore.
The user could them, but could not delete them - not individually, and not using "Delete Prior".
The Cause
This issue is normally experienced after a Mail File design update has occurred.
The Solution
To start or stop the BlackBerry services, complete the following in sequence:
After starting or stopping the BlackBerry services, close BlackBerry Manager.
Note: All of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services can also be started by clicking the Administrative Tools > Services drop-down list.
The BlackBerry services must be stopped or started in the specified order, to reduce the number of errors that appear in the Microsoft Windows Event Viewer Application Log.
Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones.
While installing a 4.1.x BlackBerry Enterprise Server for either Lotus Domino or Microsoft Exchange, utilising a remotely installed BlackBerry Router service, the following error may appear upon clicking the "Test Connectivity" button in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installer:
Attempting to connect to <routerhostname> (<routerIPaddress>), port 3101
Sending test packet
Waiting for response
Receiving response
recv(): connection lost
This error also appears if BBSPRTest.exe is run from a command prompt on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server being installed.
If the installation is completed, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will function properly.
Clients can test connectivity to the BlackBerry Router through port 3101 by using the Telnet utility from a command prompt as follows:
Telnet <routerIPAddress> 3101 <enter>
A successful connection will result in an empty command prompt window with the cursor blinking in the upper left corner (the screen may then be closed).
If the connection is not successful, Telnet will response with
Connecting to <RouterIPAddress>...Could not open connection to the host, on port 3101: Connect failed.
This indicates that there are real connectivity issues between the BlackBerry Enterprise Server which will require further troubleshooting. Possible causes include port 3101 being blocked by a firewall, and the BlackBerry Router not functioning properly on the remote host.
