Information relating to the installation and configuration of BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.x and 5.x mobile messaging platform.

 

On the 5th January 2009, Research in Motion released the BES for Domino 4.1 SP 6 Maintenance Release #3.

Prior to installing this (or any Maintenance Release), you should backup your BES Management Database (see Backup the BESMgmt database script).

To install the maintenance release

  1. While logged in to the computer that hosts the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, stop all IBM Lotus Domino services.

  2. Close BlackBerry Manager and the BlackBerry Configuration Panel.

  3. In the Windows Services, stop all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.

  4. Double-click besn416mr3.zip.

  5. Extract the setup program files to a local drive on your computer.

  6. Browse to the location of the setup program files.

  7. Double-click besn416mr3.msp to run the executable.

  8. Click Update.

  9. Complete the configuration screens.

  10. Click Finish.

  11. In the Windows Services, restart all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.

Software Revision & Release Dates for BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1 for Lotus Domino

 

BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.4 and later are tested and certified with the Windows Server 2003 64-bit operating system. Earlier versions of BlackBerry Enterprise Server are not certified with Windows Server 2003 64-bit.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino

BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.4 for IBM Lotus Domino or later can be installed on a Windows Server 2003 64-bit operating system; however, the computer hosting the associated IBM Lotus Domino messaging server must use the 32-bit version.

Note: Exchange System Manager 2000 or 2003 cannot be installed on a Windows Server 2003 64-bit operating system. The only software capable of providing the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) subsystem is the MAPI CDO client available from Microsoft.
