The BlackBerry Enterprise Server will not immediately send an update as to whether a message is read or unread in the Lotus Notes client on a BlackBerry smartphone users computer.
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server will send these updates as part of Over The Air Folder Management (OTAFM) as part of a folder rescan. This rescan is done at a random time between 30 and 60 minutes for each user.
There is no way to instigate an immediate update to the status of read/unread marks to an individual BlackBerry smartphone user on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. However an individual BlackBerry smartphone user can use the Reconcile Now feature, from the Options menu in the message list to request an immediate reconciliation of the current status with the mail file.
