We have recently found a number of customers experienced the following error after upgrading their Domino R8.5.3 server to Fix Pack 3.

 

[10000] {0xB44} Controller could not start agent
[30000] {0xB44} Controller is starting agent
[10000] {0xB44} Could not read Registry key (SOFTWARE\Lotus\Domino) ...
[10000] {0xB44} Controller could not start agent
[20000] {0xB44} Agent will not be started - reached the maximum of 100 launches per start, per day
[20000] {0xB44} Agent will not be started - reached the maximum of 100 launches per start, per day

 

Upon further investigation, it appears that somehow, they have managed to install the x64 version of the Fix Pack on the x86 Domino server. A quick re-install of the Domino server and then the installation of the correct version of the Fix Pack, and everything is fine.

Reminder: BlackBerry Enterprise Server v5.0.x for Lotus Domino currently only supports a 32-bit version of Lotus Domino server software being installed.
